According to a leading human resources company in Taiwan, according to a survey they conducted with 300 high-level white collar workers in Taiwan earning more than NT$2M(US$58,000) a year, 75% said that they wanted to relocated their jobs to China.

1111 HR Bank, said that this survey was conducted after the outbreak of SARS in China and Taiwan, and did not show a change from before the breakout of the disease. The respondents said that they did not think it necessary for SARS disease patients to return to Taiwan for medical care, but would like to see Taiwan doctors practicing in China, and would seek their medical care.

In addition, ChinaHR.com, quoting Goldman Sachs sources, said that the SARS crisis was having different effects on different industries. The industries which are most badly hit are mainly in the services sector, and include airlines, travel, restaurants, retail and entertainment industries. Manufacturing has suffered the least.

According to 1111 HR Bank, most of their surveyrespondents were Taiwan workers who had lived and worked in China for more than one year. In most cases, they had relocated their families to mainland China as well. Those who had moved their families to China as well said that they would prefer to continue their careers in China, and did not want to move back to Taiwan.
