Disney Corporation and Sohu have signed a content sharing agreement to offer Disney-branded services to Chinese users. Sohu is one of the major Internet portals in China, along with Sina.com and Netease.

In the first phase of the agreement, Sohu will offer Disney/Pixar content hosted on Sohu's infrastructure. The Disney China site will offer information about Disney/Pixar characters, and TV programming information and events information. In addition, Sohu will also offer SMS and MMS services on mobile phones using Disney characters, and in which the two companies will share revenue.

This move follows a successful three-month trial where Sohu produced, promoted and hosted content for the Disney/Pixar movie Finding Nemo.

SMS and MMS services have been very popular in China, and have contributed significantly to the improved revenue outlook and share price for the three Internet portals. In addition to Disney/Pixar, Sohu also has a content sharing agreement with the US's National Basketball Association (NBA). NBA basketball games are very popular in China, particularly following Yao Ming's joining the Houston Rockets basketball team in 2002.

It is believed that there are more than 300 million basketball viewers in China, and the NBA is now considering staging some games in China.
