In a major move to bolster its presence in China, FedEx Express, a subsidiary of Memphis-based FedEx Corp., will increase its presence by opening a new regional headquarters in Shanghai. The new office is due to open on Dec. 1.

FedEx already serves more than 220 Chinese cities, and plans to increase that number to 320 in five years. Increased economic growth in China has brought higher demand for the company's express delivery services. Recently, in a move to offer faster direct express cargo to and from the US to southern China, a major manufacturing and service region, FedEx has increased flights between Shenzhen and Anchorage . The company will add additional service as demand requires.

FedEx will maintain its Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong. Its Asia operational hub is in Subic Bay in the Philippines, and its European hub is in Charles deGaulle Airport in Paris.
