Wuhan, in Hubei province, has recently unveiled a new website to attract domestic and overseas investment.

Located in central China, Wuhan is the sixth largest city in China, with a population of 7 million, and is situated on the Yangtze River. It is an important transportation hub in China, and has been a home to heavy industry, including steel and manufacturing.

With China's economic restructuring, the Chinese government is no longer investing in many state-owned enterprises. This has forced early retirement for many workers, and in other cases, losses of jobs.

As part of China's economic restructuring, the Chinese government is selling off many assets to both foreign and domestic enterprises, and is inviting investors to participate in Wuhan's modernization so that the new businesses will be competitive, both domestically in China, and on the international marketplace.

More than 1,800 projects have been posted online at www.wuhaninvest.gov.cn.
